Art League of Henderson County- "2007- Artist of the Year"

“Over 30 years ago-- when my father handled
me a sketch-pad and pencil,
I started drawing and haven’t stopped since!”

Barbara spent most of her adult life in the New York upstate. Now, happily
relocated to North Carolina, “To escape the snow,” she says: she is the envy
of her pals as her children, “followed her down” to live a better
life in the splendor of the WNC mountains.

Upon a move to New York State's Finger Lake region, Barb considers the two
years of art study with Sylvia Sheridan, fortuitous; as all media was explored.
Barb joked about her primary focus for many years;
“Watercolor is my joy & my torture.”

During her years with The Naples Art Network, she exhibited in galleries &
shows where she sold hundreds of paintings. Many of her works were
purchased by tourists & now are in collections throughout the United States.
Currently, the Conn-Artists Studio has her paintings on display as well as at
The Bistro on Main St & 5th Ave in Hendersonville. Barbara is an active member
of The Art League of Henderson County.

Always open to learn & grow- she still attends many workshops.
In March 2007, she won the Art League’s ‘Artist of the Month'
using oil paints, a medium new to her she now loves.

“There is such beauty all around us, it is easy to find subject matter.
I paint the places & people I love.
When I look at a scene I have painted,
it brings back fond memories.
I hope my work brings back a fond memory for you as well.”
