| OPEN STUDIO The heart of The Conn-Artist Studios |

| WEDNESDAY Open Studio is usually FILLED- FRIDAY space available- $15 daily and we supply the tables, easels, and muses! Great Opportunity to Get Your Art Groove On! Call Connie 329-2918 Together every week. We share a passion to become better artists. We shrive to render what we feel in our hearts-what we see in our gorgeous vistas- Each day we paint, we try to, "get it right" enough that we are happy with the results. Having "extra sets of eyeballs" to see and critique each others work has been a life-line to progress. Sometimes we take classes and workshops offered at the studio. It is all good. All that said, it is perhaps the, "community" part of it we value the most. We are here to paint. We are here to create. We are here to enjoy what we love to do. |

| Comments by Open Studio Member Artist- Jan Onan Painting is the process, not the end result. I believe what makes a painting work is when you FEEL emotions of the painter as you look upon a work. You can connect with it and know the artist was totally immersed in his/her work. Painting allows me to be present, in the moment. I connect with what I am seeing and doing with what I am feeling and then my paintings reflect me. It is very meditative for me which is quite healing. We are all our worst critics as artists, so my aim is to focus in on the process. Painting takes me away from the daily ‘to do’ list in my mind and allows me to focus in on what I am doing, seeing and feeling right now. All worries and ‘shoulds’ are put aside. The nurturing environment of The Conn-Artist Studios allows me the time I need away from the house, the discipline to attend to my art at least once a week, and the encouragement and feedback from other artist in the studio should I need it. I know if I focuses on the process, it does not matter the outcome. It is a bonus when a painting is successful in the end. The more I paint and enjoy the process, the more surprises that I am pleased with happen. My advice to anyone who believes they have an ‘artist within’, is to open yourself up to the power of starting and being in the presence of now; enjoy the journey and your might surprise yourself with the outcome. The reward is in the expressing, not the expression. Focus on the doing as a gift to yourself. You have to start somewhere. I challenge all of you who have an artist within to do just that. Start.
